NOW OPEN postdoc position

NIH-funded PhD postdoctoral fellowship is open immediately. Candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments to examine the cellular and molecular immune mechanisms involved in the autoimmune and alloimmune responses in lung transplant rejection. Applicants should have expertise in dendritic cell - T cell interactions, autoimmunity, epitope mapping, development of cell lines and hybridomas and in writing manuscripts. Strong background in immunology, cellular and molecular biology is required. Experience in surgical techniques in rodents is desirable. Please send C.V. and names of three references to:

OTHER open positions

Director David Wilkes, MD, is working with the Departments of Surgery and Pathology to hire Center researchers, as well as with the Department of Medicine and the Division of Rheumatology. New faculty will be housed within the Center in the Medical Sciences Building, room 224. These recruitments have begun.

Pathology
Chao-Hung Lee, PhD, Professor of Pathology, chairs the search committee. Other members of the committee are Janice Blum, PhD, Randy Brutkiewicz, PhD and Cheong-Hee Chang, PhD. Advertisements have been placed in various journals including Science, Nature and the Journal of Immunology. In addition letters are being sent to the Chairs of Pathology departments throughout the United States describing the position being offered. Interviews have begun.

Rheumatology
Dr. Wilkes and Dr. Blum are meeting regularly with Rafael Grau, MD, Chief of Rheumatology, to plan recruitment efforts for the hiring of two faculty members.

Surgery
Dr. Wilkes and Mark Pescovitz, MD, Director, Division of Organ Transplant, Department of Surgery, are discussing recruitment for the Department of Surgery. The goal is to hire individuals with a background in translational research in transplant immunology. Drs. Wilkes and Pescovitz have already hosted visits from several potential recruits.
